Take. Fucking. Control.
Or pretend to have it.
And stop whining.
This pattern is not just useful, not just beautiful, it’s inevitable. This is why science and mathematics are so much fun, you discover things that seem impossible to be true and then get to figure out why it’s impossible for them not to be.
Abelardo Morell, Tent-Camera Image on Ground: View of the Golden Gate Bridge From Battery Yates, 2012
.The work behind is not only incredible but simple and by simple, I don’t mean easy. The installation and the process to get these pictures are inspiring.
From Discover Mag“Recently, I began to wonder what it would be like to marry images of landscapes with the surface of the ground nearby. I have worked with my assistant, C.J. Heyliger, on designing a light proof tent that, via periscope type optics, makes it possible to project a view of the nearby landscape onto whatever ground is under the tent. Inside this darkened space I use a view camera to record the effect, which I think is a rather wonderful sandwich of two outdoor realities coming together. This Tent-Camera now liberates me to use camera obscura techniques in a world of new places.”
So humanity has known for a long time what fractals are. It is a very strange situation in which an idea which each time I look at all documents have deeper and deeper roots, never (how to say it), jelled.

The areas that need to evacuate include, according to the NYT:
- The waterfront fringes of Sunset Park, Williamsburg and Greenpoint in Brooklyn
- Most of coastal Staten Island.
- The Rockaways and parts of Long Island City in Queens.
- City Island in the Bronx.
